Book Chat – Favorite Books of 2016 + Disappointments

Happy New New Year’s Eve! This year, I read books all across the board—young adult, women’s fiction, thrillers, historical young adult, and more—and had an absolute blast! Here are my favorite reads of 2016. I hope you have a great night!

#Blogger Fail!  I had to film this video in a hurry and I totally forgot to mention a few other great books! THE MOTHERS by Brit Bennett is also absolutely fantastic and deserving of all the hype. WHEN BREATH BECOMES AIR by Paul Kalanithi was an emotional memoir of living while dying told by Dr. Kalanithi, a neurologist who is diagnosed with terminal cancer. Get the tissues, everyone! Lastly, I really enjoyed WATCHING EDIE by Camilla Way. This British thriller had a little surprise I didn’t see coming.

  • Girl! I’m so happy you loved YOU. That book was crazy. It made my list last year. My two very best favorites this year were It Ends With Us & All the Ugly and Wonderful Things. (I posted all my favs on the blog today.) My biggest disappointment was One True Loves. I’d heard so many amazing things about TJR and it was the first book by her I’d read, and I didn’t like it at all. Happy New Year!

    • I’m totally with you on ONE TRUE LOVES! I’m a huge TJR fan and it didn’t work for me!! After I Do and Forever, Interrupted are my two favorites from her! Both of them have stayed with me. I’ll check out your favorites!! Happy New Year!

  • I love your shirt in the video! I will definitely be signing up for your reading challenge. I have Salt to the Sea but haven’t read it yet. :/

    • Hi Kay! Thanks! I don’t remember where I got it. Let me know when you read Salt to the Sea and what you think. 🙂

  • LOVE your blog.

You have a lot of fun features along with great book features.

I have read two of your favorites: I LET YOU GO and WATCHING EDIE. Watching Edie was a bit odd, but I Let You Go was good.

I have so many favorites that I can’t remember. 🙂

    • Thank you so much, Elizabeth! That means a lot! I try to keep it fun around here by mixing it up!

Wasn’t I Let You Go something else? I’m listening to Clare Mackintosh’s newest one right now! 🙂
