Around the Book Blogosphere #5

“Around the Book Blogosphere” is a feature to share posts from other book blogs or other book-related websites that I have enjoyed reading.  Book blogging is all about sharing the love, right?

I have really been slacking lately when it comes to reading the feeds of the blogs I follow! So here are a bunch of fun posts I found this past week. Enjoy!

The Book Hookup Turned 3!

The Book Hookup turned three years old last month.  In honor of this, the ladies put together a series of AWESOME interviews with some pretty amazing authors.

I was elated to find out that they snatched an interview with the boys from The Sea of Tranquility, Josh Bennett and Drew Leighton!!

Read the Interview with Josh Bennett

They also interviewed several other great book boyfriends:

Ambrose from Making Faces | The Guys from Pushing the LimitsNoah, Bo, and Gray from the Woodlands series

The final book in Leigh Bardugo’s Grisha trilogy, Ruin and Rising, was released recently. I’ve heard from several people that this series is a MUST read.  The awesome folks at the Book Riot say that Ruin and Rising “made me laugh, it made me cry, it made me send frantic tweets to people I don’t really know because I thought they’d understand what I was going through while reading it.”  Sounds good, right?  They put together a great list about the heroine, Alina Starkov and why she is a badass.

Cora Carmack has a new adult paranormal series coming out this December!!  The “Losing It” author has a lot to say about it! Check out her gif-fy post!

Kristilyn from Reading in Winter wrote an interesting blog post about book blogging and her observations on the lack of originality.  I thought what she had to say was so on point: “Make your blog stand out and write your blog for YOU. When you look back at all the time you spent blogging, will you be happy with it? Will it document that time of your life how you want it to? ”

I want the content on Reading Books Like a Boss to be fun and engaging for my (few) readers.  That’s why I usually opt to do more of my own book features like the “What I’m Digging” posts.  I have a lot of fun putting together those posts and hope that everyone enjoys reading those.  I have some ideas for some more book-spotlight type features too.  If you have any posts, you’d like to see on my blog comment below. I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Reviews I enjoyed reading!

To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han—5 stars
Reviewed by Steph from No BS Book Reviews

My friend Steph doesn’t go crazy about very many books, especially not contemporaries.  She 5-starred this book so hard, so I’m intrigued!! And it’s *gasp* a contemporary!  Here is what she said about it: “I loved this book. It read so genuine and sincere, and I felt like I was able to connect with each character in one way or another.”

Boomerang by Noelle August—4 stars
Reviewed by Trinity at A Love Affair With Books

“Noelle August has written a fresh twist on the office romance. Boomerang is the epitome of a delightful romantic comedy!”
I actually read Boomerang and LOVED it! It was a refreshing New Adult Romantic comedy that wasn’t overly sexed up and didn’t have any sort of over-the-top drama. It truly is the perfect summer read.

Take by Ella Frank—4.5 Stars
Reviewed by Shh Mom’s Reading

I don’t read too many M/M but several of my friends read and Loved Try (Book #1) and the sequel, Take.  Here is what Shh Mom’s Reading had to say:  “Many of these scenes pulled at my heart and had me gripping my kindle hoping Tate would be strong enough to follow his heart in the face of rejection from his family.”

Puddle Jumping by Amber L. Johnson—5 Stars
Reviewed by Jessica at The Bookish Babe

Puddle Jumping book has taken over my Goodreads/Facebook feed in the last few weeks.  Everyone who has read this book has loved it.  It’s short but it must pack a BIG punch.  Here is what Jessica had to say: “I’ve mentioned before that it is very hard for me to tear up, much less cry, from reading a book. There are very few books that have accomplished this. PUDDLE JUMPING was definitely one of those books that I was emotionally invested in. “

The Distance Between Us by Kasie West—4.5 stars
Reviewed by Marianne at Cristina’s Book Reviews

“Overall, a great, fluffy, contemporary romance. It’ll leave you giddy and happy and wanting to devour anything else Kasie West writes.”  I whole-heartedly agree. I really liked this book!!

Ruthless People by J.J. McAvoy—4.5 stars
Reviewed by Mostly YA Book Obsessed

“Ruthless People was everything I was hoping it would be! It was intense and action packed and so twisted. As the warning says, these people are straight up evil. They kill anyone and everyone who gets in their way and they have no regrets over it.”
