hey Megan, great video! loved the excitement (and loved the news!!) over Age of X. I’m not eligible for the giveaway but will answer that last question anyway. hands down, no questions asked, my favourite read of 2016 was The Hating Game by Sally Thorne. I know it didn’t work for you but I am total trash for that book and have forced most of my bookish besties to drink the kool aid, too, haha. really looking forward to Subjects & Terms. it sounds awesome!

    • Sorry Hollis! I didn’t know how to gift a gift card to non-US people or else I would have! I can totally see the appeal of The Hating Game! I’m glad you loved it so much!!!!

not at all, don’t apologize! no one deserves giveaways, they are just a lovely bonus. : )

also, just watching Richelle’s video now, “and the handful of Age of X fans waiting for news about book three” ahahaha

        • I know! I totally laughed when she said that! Hahahaha!

  • Loved it! I am not entering the giveaway but just wanted to answer your questions.
What am I reading now? I am reading Hit the Spot by J. Daniels – I am not sure how I am feeling about it yet. Will let you know.
Do I like cliffhangers? I don’t mind cliffhangers but I prefer a long, complete book vs. breaking up a book into many parts to create more sale opportunities. It really depends on how the author does it and if the story warrants more books.
My fave book of 2016 – I have a bunch that I really enjoyed. From Sand and Ash by Amy Harmon, It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover, Black Swan Affair by KL Kreig and Undecided by Juliana Keyes are ones that stand out the most.

    • If no one else enters, you will be entered and the content will be between me and you! LOL! I’m with you on cliffhangers! I like the good ones, ones work with the plot! 🙂

  • Not entering but my god I’m so glad someone else had pointed out the popularity contest blogging had become. It’s become less about sharing well written books we’ve READ and more about who can promote the most authors and get the most attention. I only post about books I’ve read – whether I loved them or not. Every now and then on my FB page I’ll help share some releases. But I totally see what you’ve brought up. I rarely see reviews and reccs anymore, it’s release blitz after release blitz after release blitz 🙄 Also- can’t wait to read I Love You Subject to the Following Terms and Conditions! It’s sounds super good!

    • Thanks for your comment. 🙂 I see this type of social media content from small and big blogs alike. It’s frustrating to me as a reader to constantly be sales pitched by those who are supposed to be there to help me find books. I don’t know if anyone else feels the same or not, but it’s definitely something that concerns me. I will write reviews for books I like and didn’t like. But I only choose to post on social media about or promote books I either read and liked or books I haven’t read yet but are interested in. I do see recommendations still, but because of the direction book blogging has taken the last couple of years, sometimes it’s hard for me to discern whether someone is actually recommending the book or recommending that I click on their link. Not every blog is like this but a lot are moving in this direction.

I was so drawn to the premise. And I liked that she took a pretty common trope and added her little spin on it! I can’t wait for the next book!

Heeeey! I love your videos. You mentioned 3 recent videos so I may have missed one, which can’t be!!! I’ll look into it ;). Okay let’s see the book I’m reading now is The Sun Is Also a Star by nicola yoon. I wasn’t a big fan of her last book, but I thought this sounded interesting. I just starred. Cliffhangers – yes, I don’t mind them when they’re done well and when the author doesn’t wait years to continue or authors that drag out plots. I thought the cliffhanger after book 1 in Emi Lost and Found was brutal but had me moving onto book 2 right away AKA that worked for me. Also, the Opportunist had a good one. Also, book 1 in the bronze horseman series – I was exhausted but had to keep going. Favorite book of 2016 – I’d have to think on this but as you know The Mothers was one of them. I could list more but this is already getting long haha. There are several I loved but way more that I DNF and didn’t like. Hoping 2017 is a good reading year!

    • I thought I replied to this! I did my SMBC 2 weeks ago (well now almost 3), a VA video in the book of the week post, and then this one. So that’s three videos, but not 3 SMBC videos. Haha! Same here, Sadie! I don’t mind cliffhangers as long as they’re done well. 🙂 The Opportunist had a great one!

    • Sadie! You’re the only person who entered, so you win a $10 Gift card! Send me your email address! 🙂

I’m currently reading Too Late by Colleen Hoover. I just love anything by her.

  • Hildy

    Great video!
I’ve read some great books this year but I think my favourite was What Alice Forgot by Liane Moriarty. I’m currently reading Rachel’s Holiday by Marian Keyes. It’s a reread. And I completely agree about affiliate links. I support using them but I really dislike the constant sales pitches and click bait. Since I quit blogging, I really only follow you on FB and a few others on IG. It’s much simpler and I don’t feel like people are insincerely shouting at me all the time.

    • Thanks, Hildy! I need to finally read some Liane Moriarty and Kristin Hannah! I bet your feed on FB and IG is so free of clutter!
