Hello, I Love You by Katie M. Stout – June 9, 2015
Young Adult – Cute First Love Story
All right stop, Collaborate and Listen. This young adult contemporary sounds so stinking cute. The heroine’s brother is a well-known singer in the States. But she leaves behind her family’s multi-million dollar mansion and runs to Korea to attend a boarding school.
But get this: “her roommate Sophie’s twin brother Jason turns out to be the newest Korean pop music superstar.” Have you ever listened to KPOP? Allow me enlighten you: here or here or here.
Grace’s refuge is short-lived because she’s thurst into the spotlight because of Jason, “whose celebrity status is only outmatched by his oversized ego.” There is some definite tension (and not the romantic kind) because Grace and Jason do not get along. Yes!! I love that! But then she gets all confused because, crap, she starts to like him and his ego.
Last First Kiss by Lia Riley – June 23, 2015
Adult Contemporary – Second Chance Romance
Annie Carson is a popular blogger whose life is “Pinterest Perfect,” or at least that’s what she shows you. In reality she’s a hot mess. She ends up back in her podunk hometown where she plans on spending the summer getting her family’s farm ready to sell.
But then she runs into “six-foot-four reason she left,” Sawyer Kane. Sawyer has some major regrets and now that Annie is back in town, he doesn’t want to let her leave.
I love second chance romances!! I haven’t read anything yet by Lia Riley but this one looks really adorable!
Grey by E.L. James – June 18, 2015
Erotica – Billionaire Romance
You Guys haven’t heard of this one, have you? 😉 Just kidding. E.L. James surprised everyone when she announced she was writing Fifty Shades of Grey through the eyes of Christian Grey. In Grey, Christian is much more vulnerable and dare I say a wee bit more likable than we saw in FSoG.
I finished the audiobook for this one over the weekend and it made me feel nostalgic. This series was what saved me from the horrors of the Bar Exam and transported me into world filled with books.
Right Next Door by A.J. Pryor – June 30, 2015
New Adult – Neighbor Romance (is that a thing?)
The beginning lines of the synopsis caught my attention.
My fiancé is officially a married man. The only problem is that he isn’t married to me. . .
Say what??? So here it goes. Addison’s college boyfriend proposes but then her father gets really sick and Addison is forced to put her dreams aside. Her fiancé freaking leaves her (strike one) and promises to come back. Who does that??
And then five years later he comes back. BUT GUESS WHAT?? HE IS MARRIED!!! (Strike two). Luckily for Addison, she has a new hot next door neighbor and he needs a cup of sugar. Okay, I made up the part about the cup of sugar. I hope hot neighbor guy makes ex-fiancé super jelly.
Bounce by Noelle August – August 25, 2015
New Adult – Fun Romance
This series has just been a complete joy to read. Boomerang and Rebound were both great new adult romances.
“Playing the occasional club gig just isn’t cutting it for twenty-two-year-old cellist Skyler Canby, who’s trying to support herself and her mother back home in Kentucky. Persuaded by her best friend Beth to accompany her on an audition for the first feature film launched by Blackwood Entertainment, she figures why not? Beth’s a shoe-in for the lead, but maybe Skyler’s newly dyed pink hair will help her stand out enough to score a small speaking part.
Never in her wildest dreams does Skyler imagine she’ll land the lead role or that she’ll have her shoes knocked off her feet by the kiss her audition partner, Grey Blackwood, plants on her—a kiss that feels very real and not at all “acted. ”
After throwing a party that causes thousands of dollars of damage to his older brother’s home, reckless musician Grey Blackwood gets roped into working off his debt on the set of his CEO brother’s newest project. Grey spends his days fetching coffee and doing odd jobs around the studio, but he lives for nights when he performs with his band. He knows if he can stay focused, success as a singer is just around the corner. But that’s tough with a distracting pink-haired girl occupying his every waking thought.
Skyler and Grey have every reason to resist each other. But, like a song neither of them can get out of their minds, they have no choice but to go where the music takes them.”
Don’t Let Go by Sharla Lovelace – June 30, 2015
Adult Contemporary – Second Chance Romance
Noah and Jules were childhood friends who then became lovers. “The two had their future all planned out—until one unspeakable decision tore them apart.”
Almost thirty years later (WOWZA!), Jules is living in her mother’s everthing and working at her mother’s store. She isn’t happy. And then NOAH COMES BACK into town. And with him he brings memories and feelings and ALL THE THINGS!
Maybe in Another Life by Taylor Jenkins Reid – July 7, 2015
Adult Contemporary – Second Chance Romance w/ a twist
I have been excited about Maybe in Another Life since Taylor Jenkins Reid announce it last year. It explores the idea of soul mate and fate. How do our choices shape our future and the things that are written in stars be changed based on a small choice.
The heroine moves back to her hometown and in with her best friend. They go to a bar and she runs into her former flame. The story splits into two concurrent storylines when Hannah is forced to decide: Does she go home with Gabby or does she go home with Ethan?
“Is there such a thing as a soul mate? Hannah believes there is. And, in both worlds, she believes she’s found him.”
From Scratch by Rachel Goodman – July 20, 2015
Adult Contemporary – Second Chance w/ Southern Whimsy
A down-home, feel-good debut Southern romance, From Scratch explores one woman’s journey back home to Dallas, Texas, where her family is cooking up a plan that doesn’t quite suit her tastes…
Thirty-year-old Lillie Turner grew up with maple syrup stuck to her skin and bacon grease splattered on her clothes, courtesy of working in the family diner. Thank goodness she escaped all that when she moved to Chicago five years ago. Now a successful strategy consultant and newly engaged to a man who complements her like biscuits and gravy, she has everything she wants.
When an urgent phone call about her father’s health pulls Lillie back to Dallas, she soon learns it was a ruse to bring her home so she can run the diner she’d rather avoid and compete in the Upper Crust, an annual baking competition, with no option to withdraw. Lillie is furious and ready to run back to Chicago, but her father’s haggard appearance makes her wonder if he’s hiding something. Things go from bad to worse when Nick, her handsome ex and the only man she ever truly loved, reappears, looking as scrumptious as ever.
Lillie’s trip home forces her to question the path she’s chosen, find her place in the family she abandoned, and wonder if the life she left behind is what she wants after all.
The Coincidence of Coconut Cake by Amy E. Reichert – July 21, 2015
Adult Contemporary – A Meet-hate Romance (maybe?)
This book sounds so good! It was my Waiting on Wednesday post last week and I’m freaking stoked to get to it!
It’s being described as You’ve Got Mail meets How to Eat a Cupcake. The heroine is a chef and own of a cute French restaurant and the hero is a food critic, known for his scathing reviews. He writes a less than positive review for her little restaurant.
And then the two serendipitously cross paths the day the review goes up and they get to know each other. Before long, they’re falling for one another! NEED THIS NOW!
The Paper Swan by Leylah Attar – August 4, 2015
I am so excited for Leylah Attar’s next novel. Her debut, 53 Letters For My Lover was breathtaking!! She just released the synopsis for it last week! Check it out!
They say it takes 21 days to form a habit.
They lie.
For 21 days she held on.
But on Day 22, she would have given anything for the sweet slumber of death.
Because on Day 22, she realizes that her only way out means certain death for one of the two men she loves.
A haunting tale of passion, loss, and redemption, The Paper Swan is a darkly intense yet heartwarming love story, textured with grit, intrigue, and suspense.
Chasing River by K.A. Tucker – July 7, 2015
New Adult – Romantic Suspense
I have yet to start K.A. Tucker’s Burying Water series, but I hope to soon! Her upcoming release looks really good! And it has an Irish hottie! WOOHOO!!
“Armed with two years’ worth of savings and the need to experience life outside the bubble of her Oregon small town, twenty-five-year old Amber Welles is prepared for anything. Except dying in Dublin. Had it not been for the bravery of a stranger, she might have. But he takes off before she has the chance to offer her gratitude.
Twenty-four-year-old River Delaney is rattled. No one was supposed to get hurt. But then that American tourist showed up. He couldn’t let her die, but he also can’t be identified at the scene—so, he fled. Back to his everyday life of running his family’s pub. Only, everyday life is getting more and more complicated, thanks to his brother, Aengus, and his criminal associations. When the American girl tracks River down, he quickly realizes how much he likes her, how wrong she is for him. And how dangerous it is to have her around. Pushing her away would be the smart move.
Maybe it’s because he saved her life, or maybe it’s because he’s completely different from everything she’s left behind, but Amber finds herself chasing after River Delaney. Amber isn’t the kind of girl to chase after anyone.
And River isn’t the kind of guy she’d want to catch.”
The Boy Most Likely To by Huntley Fitzpatrick – August 18, 2015
Young Adult – Romance
Tim Mason was The Boy Most Likely To find the liquor cabinet blindfolded, need a liver transplant, and drive his car into a house
Alice Garrett was The Girl Most Likely To . . . well, not date her little brother’s baggage-burdened best friend, for starters.
For Tim, it wouldn’t be smart to fall for Alice. For Alice, nothing could be scarier than falling for Tim. But Tim has never been known for making the smart choice, and Alice is starting to wonder if the “smart” choice is always the right one. When these two crash into each other, they crash hard.
Then the unexpected consequences of Tim’s wild days come back to shock him. He finds himself in a situation that isn’t all it appears to be, that he never could have predicted . . . but maybe should have.
And Alice is caught in the middle.
