I read so many books this year with great couples. It was a blast to choose some of my favorites. Some of them may not be your conventional couples, but I couldn’t resist choosing something a little different. Tell me what your favorites are in the comments.
Javier and Ellie Eden
On Every Street by Karina Halle
Javier Bernal made quite an impression on readers everywhere this year when he said the now infamous words, “I want to stain you, Eden.” Team Javier folks will forever sing his praises. He was one of the most twisted book characters and his relationship with Eden White (Ellie Watt) was intense, heartbreaking, and captivating.

Camie and Tristan
Shark Bait by Jenn Cooksey
Jenn Cooksey’s Grab Your Pole series is not only hilarious but deals with some pretty deep issues. One minute you’re laughing and the next you have tears in your eyes. Cooksey has a very witty writing style and I absolutely LOVE the cast of characters she’s created.

Alex and Aiden
Apollyon by Jennifer L. Armentrout
I LOVE a good forbidden love story. I love the angst and the longing that plays out on the page. The Covenant series has one of the best young adult forbidden love stories. Aiden is strong, sexy, and sweet. He loves Alex enough to stay away from her…to a point. Check out the series.

Alex and Lena
Delirium by Lauren Oliver
This book began a love-hate relationship with Lauren Oliver. I read it and I wanted to slap her and then I wanted to sing her praises. Alex and Lena live in a world where love is considered a disease. Weeks away from receiving the cure for amor deliria nervosa (the love disease), Lena meets Alex. Alex is…progressive and helps unlock a part of Lena that she didn’t know she have. Their love story took my breath away. I love this series. What’s more is that it’s beautifully written. I couldn’t stop thinking about it when it was over.

Luce and Serah
Extinguish by J.M. Darhower
This book also made my best of 2013. Like I said in that post, this book introduces you to perhaps one of the most TABOO romances — a romance between an angel and the devil himself. I loved this story and the way Darhower told it. Luce was a complex and tricky characters. He was conniving and manipulative with Serah but somehow I came to love him. It felt so wrong, yet so right.

Emi and Nate
Lost & Found by Lori Otto
This series reduced me to a sobbing mess multiple times. Lost & Found, book one in the Emi Lost and Found series, tells the story of two best friends falling in love. Emi and Nate have been close since meeting in high school and bonding over their love of art. They were truly soul mates through and through. After a pact in high school not to date one another, Emi stuck to that deal. Now nine years later, they’re still just friends. But can they be more? Read and see. 🙂

Andie and Chase
Emancipating Andie by Priscilla Glenn
I have reread this book a couple of times this year because I love Andie and Chase so much. Andie is a rule-follower and Chase…well… is not. He teaches Andie to let go of all the “supposed to’s” and just live. These two go on a road trip that changes both of them. Andie can’t stand Chase. When they reach their destination, neither of them can stop thinking about the other. Did I mention that Andie has a boyfriend?
Seth and Georgina
Succubus Blues
I’m sure you all are so sick hearing me go on and on and on about this series. Sorry I’m not sorry. Georgina and Seth’s romance is UNFORGETTABLE. I hate using the word “epic” but this series is just that. I couldn’t stop reading the series after book 3. Georgina is a succubus whose devilish job is to sleep with men and corrupt their souls for hell. But then she falls in love with Seth Mortenson. There’s just one problem: She refuses to sleep with him (or even kiss him for more than 5 seconds). One intimate encounter between them can take years off of his life. Not only are the characters sexually frustrated, the reader is too. 😉 It’s a wonderful feeling.

Tony and Claire
Consequences by Aleatha Romig
You’re probably reading this thinking, “What in the world are you thinking, Megan?” I’m asking myself the very same thing as I sit here and type this. Tony and Claire are one of my favorite book couples of 2013 because they are so unconventional. I am NOT a Tony Rawlings fan (even after reading Truth). But I loved the complex nature of their relationship/arrangement/situation/whatchamacallit. I’m still perplexed. This isn’t a lof of love here, but there is a lot of “what the fuckery”.

Adrian and Sydney
The Indigo Spell by Richelle Mead
Adrian Ivashkov is sooooo swoony in The Indigo Spell, book 3 in the Bloodlines series. For 3 books we have been waiting for Sydney to see the light and realize how amazing Adrian is. How much longer can she deny Adrian’s love for her? Adrian lays it on thick in this book and wawaweewa it had me melting. This series has another forbidden romance.
