The List – Heroines You’d Want as Your BFF

The List – Heroines You’d Want as Your BFF

I know I’m not the only who reads a good book with an awesome female character and thinks, “She and I would be great friends if she were freaking real.” Here is a list of awesome ladies who I think would make the most amazing best friends.

TELL ME: What bookish ladies would you want to be BFFs with?

Georgina Kincaid

Georgie is the full package friend. She’s fiercely protective of those closest to her. She has a great sense of humor. SHE LOVES READING, so you could totally sit in a room and “not talk” to each other. She’s also a really great listener and would be awesome at giving advice, considering she’s lived over 2,000 years.

“We all have moments of weakness. It’s how we recover from them that really counts.”

“Love in the real world doesn’t usually work out the way stories make us think it should. We don’t always get fairy-tale endings. People split up and move on. Just because you love someone doesn’t mean you can’t love someone else.”

“I figured I could read more than five pages tonight since I’d been deprived for the last couple of days. When I finished the fifteen, I discovered I was three pages from the next chapter. Might as well end with a clean break. After I was done, I signed and leaned back, feeling decadent and spent. Pure bliss. Books were a lot less messy than orgasms.”

Nastya Kashnikov

I know some of you may think, “Why would you want to be her friend? She’s such a bitch!” Not true at all. She has some issues, but underneath it all she a sweet person. Like Georgie, I love Nastya’s dry sense of humor and sharp wit. Plus, the added benefit of being her friend is getting to hang out with Josh, Drew, and Tierney.

“Do real boys actually call girls baby? I don’t have enough experience to know. I do know that if a guy ever called me baby, I’d probably laugh in his face. Or choke him.”

“Everything in me turns on and shuts down at the same time. I am weak and strong. I am terrified and brave. I am lost and found. I am here and gone.”

“What would you do if I kissed you right now?“
“I’d probably let you, just to see what all the fuss is about. Then I’d rip your lips off and feed them to you.”

Mackayla Lane

Plain and simple, Mac is a freaking badass. She’s fiercely loyal to her friends and will go to the ends of the earth to defend and protect you. She’s sensitive and at the same time she’s tough as nails. She’s confident and not afraid to wear pink while punching a dude that gets out of line.

“Movies tell you what to think. A good book lets you choose a few thoughts for yourself. Movies show you the pink house. A good book tells you there’s a pink house and lets you paint some of the finishing touches, maybe choose the roof style, park your own car out front. My imagination has always topped anything a movie could come up with. Case in point, those darned Harry Potter movies. That was so not what that part-Veela-chick, Fleur Delacour, looked like.”

“One must break with one’s past to embrace one’s future. It is never an easy thing to do. It is one of the distinguishing characteristics between survivors and victims. Letting go of what was, to survive what is”

“Womankind’s greatest mistakes: falling in love with a man’s potential. We so rarely share the same view of it, and even more rarely care to achieve it.”

“Mom raised us to believe that every lie puts something out there in the world that’s inevitably going to come back and bite you in the petunia.”

Delores “Lola” Nolan

For being so young, Lola has such a wise outlook on life. She’s not one to conform to something just because everyone else is doing it. She’s her own person with her own style. I love that about her.

“The only thing I’ve done is to decide to get better. But I think that may just be enough. I’m trying to see the magic in everyday miracles now…”

“No more moving. I’m here. I’m wherever you are.”

“I slide my hand between our mouths, just in time. His lips are soft against my palm. I slowly, slowly remove it. “No, I don’t love Max anymore. But I don’t want to give you this broken, empty me. I want you to have me when I’m full, when I can give something back to you. I don’t have much to give right now.”
Cricket’s limbs are still, but his chest is pounding hard
against my own. “But you’ll want me someday? That feeling
you once had for me … that hasn’t left either?”
Our hearts beat the same wild rhythm. They’re playing the
same song.
“It never left,” I say.”

“Thank you for helping my sister,” he says.
I lean forward, mimicking his position. “I’m happy to.”
Calliope leans out her window. “STOP FLIRTING AND GET BACK TO WORK.”

Catherine “Cat” Crawfield

Cat is also a character I wouldn’t want to cross. I love how blunt and upfront she is. She can put a centuries old vampire in his place with a single look. But she’s also funny as hell and has mad fighting skills. I think it’d be so much fun to go out to dinner with her and Bones and let the show unfold before me. These two are a riot!

“I’m saying that I’m a moody, insecure, narrow-minded, jealous, borderline homicidal bitch, and I want you to promise me that you’re okay with that, because it’s who I am, and you’re what I need.”

“…you don’t care because you’re all that and I’m just an artery in a dress. ”

“…cursing my heels and debating whether it was faster to stop and take them off–damn ankle straps!–or keep running with the potential neck breakers. Wouldn’t that make a charming epitaph? Here lies Cat. Killed not by fang, but Ferragamos.”

Perry Palomino

Perry was one of my first female character crushes. She’s so relatable with her enormous amounts of insecurities (at least in the beginning of Karina Halle’s Experiment in Terror series). But as the series continues she gains confidence and learns not to give a fuck. She’ll go to the ends of the earth to protect her sister and those she loves. Plus, she’s really freaking funny and not afraid to tell it like it is.

“A world without Perry Palomino is just too fucking boring. I wouldn’t wish it upon anyone.”

“Do you think you’re special, Perry?” he asked seriously.

I winced. “A little bit. Maybe more in the Special Olympics kind of way.” He smiled and turned his eyes to the road.

“You are special, kiddo. …And not entirely in the Special Olympics kind of way.”

Hanna Bergstrom

Who’s with me on this? Hanna had Will cracking up all the freaking time. She has absolutely no filter between what goes on in her brain and what comes out of her mouth. Sure, she doesn’t always make the best choices, but who hasn’t done something stupid out of a small misunderstanding. Hanna is a brainiac but she isn’t stodgy or boring. She seems like she’d be such a fun friend!

“Wow. He’s . . . hot. I met Bennett earlier, too. You guys are like the Hot Men’s Club of Manhattan.”

“Do you want to join me at the park for a run?”
“You run?” I asked. “On purpose?”
“Yes,” he said, outright laughing now. “Not the I’m-being-chased running, but the I’m-exercising running.”

“Not to change the subject, but I watched some porn lat night.”
I coughed, putting my beer down on the rounded edge of the bar, then barely catching it before it spilled all over me. Even so, some of it slopped over the lip of the glass, and onto my lap. “Christ, Ziggs, you have zero filter.”
