Around the Book Blogosphere #8 — Reignite, That Baby, Book Boyfriend Elections, and MORE!

“Around the Book Blogosphere” is a feature to share posts from other book blogs or other book-related websites that I have enjoyed reading.  Book blogging is all about sharing the love, right?

✥  ✥  ✥

Okay, I know. I seriously suck.  I haven’t done an Around the Book Blogosphere in several weeks.  This takes time, y’all.  And that isn’t something I’ve had recently.  This means that this week’s post will be super chocked full of awesome posts from nearly a month ago.  I hope you find something that piques your interest! <3

OMG EXTINGUISH SEQUEL NEWS!

Dudes, I had a moment all alone in my office this week when J.M. Darhower (finally) revealed the cover of REIGNITE, the follow-up to last year’s Extinguish (Read my review).  If you read the book, you will completely understand why this book is very, very necessary.

You guys, if you’re a fan of paranormal angel stories and/or angsty forbidden love stories, YOU NEED TO READ THIS BOOK. I mean, the devil is the hero.  Are you interested, yet?

#1 EXTINGUISH – Kindle | Goodreads
#2 REIGNITE – Goodreads

We also have a NEW COVER for Extinguish.  I’m quite partial to the old cover with the beautiful abstract design and eye catching colors, but it’s cool that there is a LUCE on the new cover. *fans self*

You can get all the dirty details from Sara over at Forever 17 Books!!

Here is the schedule!!

AFFLICTIONS OF A BOOK WORM

Kayla from My Book Muse is on fi-ya! I loved this post about all of the ailments that us bookworms are susceptible to.  LOL!!

Book Mood Boards get me in the Mood! *wink*

I love seeing unique book features on blogs, something different to catch my eye and make me read more about the book.  Nereyda from Mostly YA Book Obsessed is a little fashionista, obsessed with books and clothes.  She makes these beautiful mood boards for books.  I would really like to try my hand at this some time.  You check out all of her Mood Boards here.

THE “HEY!! YOU’RE AWESOME!” SPOTLIGHT

I came across an awesome blog who writes awesome reviews. I love how she titles each of her reviews with something meaningful form the book instead of the title and author.  It makes me want to click on the link and read what she wrote.

The blog is BELLE OF THE LITERATI.  She recently reviewed the first books in Karen Marie Moning’s Fever Series!!

✥  ✥  ✥

TO DNF, or not DNF—That is the question

I’m not a good DNF-er. I rarely do it.  I’m just too curious about what is going to happen, even if I’m not really digging the book.  Check out Jenuine Cupcake’s short post on DNFs and her recent “no, thank you’s.”

YOUR NEVER-ENDING TO-READ LIST!

Fiktshun had a GREAT article on managing your out-of-control, ever-growing TBR pile.  With each passing day, my to-read list gets bigger and bigger.  And I seem to read slower and slower.  #BookReaderProblems #GoodProblems

Reviews I enjoyed reading!

RIVAL by Penelope Douglas
Reviewed by Lovin Los Libros — 5 stars

“This book pretty much consumed my life for the entire 2 days it took me to read it. It’s been a long while since a book has done that to me- all I wanted to do was read!”

JELLICOE ROAD by Melina Marchetta
Reviewed by Good Books & Good Wine — 5 stars

Jellicoe Road is such a nuanced read that to me, it’s no wonder that it won a Printz award. It’s one of those books that affirm why I love Aussie YA and why I love reading in general and why I am totally okay with dog earing pages with beautiful writing.”

RUTHLESS PEOPLE by J.J. McAvoy
Reviewed by Belle of the Literati — “VIP”

“The sparks between Liam and Mel were off the chain. Their foreplay, at times, is legit trying to kill each other without kill each other. So hot. I loved that they met each other strength for strength and didn’t back down. They loved to push each other’s buttons and the chemistry that was created is not even on the periodic table yet.”

SWEET THING by Renée Carlino
Reviewed by Mostly YA Book Obsessed — 4 stars

“This is one of those slow-burn relationships that start off as friendship as is loaded with cute moments and some yummy sexual tension.  I loved Will and Mia, Will especially.  Trust me, when you meet him, you will fall in love with him.”

ROOMS by Lauren Oliver
Reviewed by Fic Fare — 4 stars

“This story has a bit of everything… drama, angst, humor and sadness. If you’re looking for well-written, wonderfully constructed adult fiction, look no further. You’ll definitely find it in Rooms.”

FORGIVE ME, LEONARD PEACOCK by Matthew Quick
Reviewed by Katie’s Book Blog — 3 stars

“Matthew Quick shows the darker side of the teenage mind and it was spot on.  However, he still managed to leave readers hopeful.  I didn’t think that was going to be possible but I love how he did it.”

I’LL GIVE YOU THE SUN by Jandy Nelson
Reviewed by Katie’s Book Blog — 5 stars

“Overall, I’ll Give You The Sun is really just one book I feel that everyone should read.  My review will never do it justice.  All I can say is that I feel like readers will be missing out if you don’t give this one a chance.

SALT & STORM by Kendall Kulper
Reviewed by Lovin’ Los Libros — 5 stars

“It is beautifully written for one, and I loved diving into a society where the whaling industry was a way of life and the Roe witch was both feared and revered, yet necessary to the town’s population. Add in a romance between a young girl who is trying to claim her birthright and a tattooed sailor who has his own strange magic and a story of his own and you’ve got one heck of a story!”

BLOOD OF MY BLOOD by Barry Lyga
Reviewed by My Book Muse — 4.5 stars

“I have been in the most epic of book hangovers after reading Blood of My Blood. I’m not sure I have the words to properly convey just how blown my mind is after finishing this series. Without a doubt this is one of those rare series that I would recommend to damn near anyone; my best friend, my boyfriend, my blog friends, everyone.”
RITES OF PASSAGE by Joy N. Hensley
Reviewed by The Book Belles — 4 stars

“This is one that I’d definitely recommend to anyone, whether you’re a contemporary lover or not. It’s such an entertaining read that at the same time makes you so connected emotionally to the characters.”

DROWNING INSTINCT by Isla J. Bick
Reviewed by Maryse’s Book Blog — 4.5 stars

“A student-teacher romance, but it deals with SO much more than that. Because what IS it about these two that draw them together? And what will happen to them in the end?”

WITH THE FATHER by Jenni Moen
Reviewed by Totally Booked — 4.5 stars

“We were completely taken unawares and whilst we’re still trying piece it all together we don’t know if this is one of the cleverest stories we’ve read or one that has plot holes to buggery. We’re going with the former and we have to say we LOVED this book!”

THE HOOK UP by Kristen Callihan
Reviewed by Addicted2Heroes — 5 stars

“There is a bit of a role reversal – Anna doesn’t want people to see her with Drew for myriad reasons, while Drew wears his heart on his sleeve.  After breaking down her barriers, Anna and Drew sparkle on the pages.”

UNFORGIVEN by Rebecca Shea
Reviewed by The Book Hookup — 4 stars

“I love this series and thought I knew what to expect…and boy was I wrong! Ms. Shea totally surprised me.”

KISS KILL VANISH by Jessica Martinez
Reviewed by The Book Hookup — 5 stars

“The story had slower parts (the ones with all the waiting) but it also had parts that made my heart feel like it was going to burst out of my chest. There were moments I was sure the kindle was going to slip out of my hands from sweaty palms because I didn’t want Valentina to get caught, and while she was waiting for a text or a call it felt like I was gripping the kindle as she would be clutching her phone. I’m telling you, I was anxious right along side these characters.”
