Most Anticipated Books of 2014 – Reading Books Like a Boss Edition

These top 10 lists are super hard.  #bookproblems.  This one was especially difficult because there are SO MANY to-be-released books that I am looking forward to!  I’m breaking the rules today.  I’m going to be rebel and choose more than ten. I’m sure you won’t be upset.  The covers are linked to Goodreads and I will link to the pre-order links if available.  These are in no particular order.  Tell me what 2014 book releases you can’t wait to read!

Release date:  August 14th 2014

Anna and the French Kiss and Lola and the Boy Next Door are two of my favorite young adult contemporaries.  I have been waiting (not so patiently) for the final book in the series.  I cannot wait to meet the “hopeless dreamer,” Isla and “introspective artist” Josh.  And it’s set in Paris just like Anna and the French Kiss!

Each book in this series can be read as a standalone.  They are interconnected with the characters from the other books making cameos. I hope we get to see Lola, Cricket, Anna, and Etienne in Isla & the Happily Ever After.

White Hot Kiss by Jennifer L. ArmentroutWhite Hot Kiss by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Release date: February 25, 2014

I am a Jennifer L. Armentrout fanatic. I am totally in love with her young adult books. Armentrout’s Lux series and Covenant series are insanely addictive with fantastic forbidden romances.  She has this special way of creating tension between the characters that hurts your heart.

White Hot Kiss is the first book in Armentrout’s upcoming Dark Elements series.  It contains another forbidden romance between half-demon/half-gargoyle, Layla, and soulless demon, Roth.  But there is another guy in the picture, Zayne.  Oh, JLA, I love you so.

Donners of the Dead by Karina HalleDonners of the Dead by Karina Halle

Release date: February 24, 2014

Cowboys, Pioneers, and Zombies?  OKAY!  This is Karina Halle’s upcoming horror romance set to be released in February.  Halle is one of those authors who is automatic read.

SYNOPSIS:

Jake McGraw was unlike anyone I’d ever known. He was brash, rude, unapologetic and arrogant; chauvinistic, close-minded, and terribly stubborn. He was built like a tree, tall with a hard chest and wide shoulders and hands that looked like they could wrestle a bear. He was a cigar-chomping, scruffy-faced, beast of a man. I was pretty sure I hated him. And I know he hated me. But among the flesh-eating monsters in these snow-capped mountains, he was the only thing keeping me alive

The year is 1851 and pioneers in search of California gold are still afraid to travel on the same route as the tragic Donner party did years before. When the last wagon train to go into the Sierra Nevada mountains fails to arrive at their destination, Eve Smith, an 18-year old half-native girl with immense tracking skills is brought along with the search party, headed by an enigmatic former Texas Ranger, Jake McGraw.

What they find deep in the dangerous snow-covered terrain is a terrifying consequence of cannibalism, giving new meaning to the term “monster.” While the search party is slowly picked off, one by one, Eve must learn to trust Jake, who harbors more than a few secrets of his own, in order to survive and prevent the monstrosities from reaching civilization.

There are two kinds of people in the world. The ones who look first, and the ones who leap. I’ve always been more of a looker. Cautious. A planner. That changed after I met Drew Evans. He was so persistent. So sure of himself – and of me.

But not all love stories end happily ever after. Did you think Drew and I were going to ride off into the sunset? Join the club. Now I have to make a choice, the most important of my life. Drew already made his –in fact, he tried to decide for the both of us. But you know that’s just not my style. So I came back to Greenville. Alone. Well, sort of alone….

What I’ve come to realize is that old habits die hard and sometimes you have to go back to where you began, before you can move ahead.

Waking Up In Vegas by Stevie Kisner Waking Up in Vegas by Stevie Kisner

Release date:  May 23, 2014

I’m Tack Morgan, and I’m Las Vegas Magazine’s Sexiest Man. I’m the host of the most listened-to morning drive-time show on Vegas’s FM dial.
I’m also in therapy for sexual harassment.
My therapist is the one making me write this. The doc says it’ll help put things into perspective.
To be clear, I don’t have sexual harassment issues. I have sexual frustration issues.
And it’s totally not my fault.
That responsibility rests squarely with the person I’m being accused of harassing. I see her each and every weekday morning at the ungodly hour of 6 am.
Funny. I used to think that was the best time of the whole day. I lived for starting my mornings so early, not seeing my bed until many, many hours later.
Unless it was for recreation.
At the risk of sounding cocky, I recreated a lot.
Sex is my sport of choice. Or at least it was, until Jen waltzed through the station door and announced she was my new morning-show co-host.
I swear, she’s developed some sort of pheromone-canceling ESP that follows me around everywhere and cockblocks me at every turn. I haven’t gotten laid in… too long.
Honestly, I haven’t been keeping track.
Actually, yes, I have.
It’s been two months.
Coincidentally, that’s exactly how long Jensen McKenzie has been my co-host.
I don’t think my balls can get any bluer.
